[007] Video/Action for Goldenrod

[The video turns on. Yao's Furret, Ling, is the one holding the gear as she records her master tying his long black hair into its usual ponytail. He's not dressed in his soldier's uniform, instead, he's wearing a white uniform; the same one that the Goldenrod City Restuarant employees wear. He stands before a large mirror as he fixes his hair. He knows that Ling is recording him, but he doesn't mind.]

Furret... [Ling's getting bored of just watching him tie up his hair, so she carries the gear in her mouth, crawls over to his open backpack, and begins to look through it. There were still many things packed inside since Yao and his brothers had only been in Goldenrod for a few days. She comes across what looks like an old, folded piece of paper. She takes it out and unfolds it to reveal an artist's depiction of Yao when he was still a small child. She leans closer so the camera can take it all in.]

Ling what are you... Aiyaa! [Once Yao finishes his ponytail he sees Ling and the drawing. He runs over to her and snatches it away.] Honestly, haven't I told you it's rude to go through other people's things, aru? [He looks at the drawing for a moment. Ah, yes, back then an artist from the court had been hired by the emperor to draw that. He folds it and places it in one of the dresser's drawers.]

[Ling scurries back onto his bed and holds up the gear in his direction. He takes it back, making the camera point up to the ceiling.] It's my first day, so I can't be late, aru. You better be a good girl while I'm gone. [It's obvious that he's nervous about his new job.]

Furret!

[Just before Yao cuts off the feed, he points the camera at himself.] Also... if anyone wants me to, I'll sew clothing for you, aru. I'll work with any kind of material from silk to wool, whatever you want. The price will depend on what it is, aru.

[The feed cuts off.]

[He'll just continue forward until he's told to stop.] Adelheid has a steel fan. She says she fights with it and th-that you know a lot about steel fans and using them and... and martial arts. ...What's-a martial art? Can I learn it? [Will it help him improve with other arts?]

[Romano pouts and takes a closer look at the picture. After a moment he shakes his head.] ...You're too pretty to be a man.

[video] asdfjkl; I'm finally on winter break ;A;

Steel fans are useful in battle, but they're also very dangerous for a child, aru. [He pauses when he hears how Romano speaks of martial arts. He clears his throat before speaking again.] Martial arts is not like the arts where you paint or draw something, aru. It has more to do with hand-to-hand combat and self defense.

[China pouts.] I didn't get to choose whether I wanted to be brought up in the court or not, aru. Everyone was always so overprotective of me, that's why they wouldn't let me go outside.

[video] xDD Sweetness~

Why are they dangerous? Is it sharp? Why would you make a sharp fan, isn't that for ladies to use when they're feeling hot? That's what the women back home use it for. [Hand-to-hand combat? Self defense? Romano huffs.] Like fighting? ...Do you know how?

...They wouldn't let you go outside? [This concept seems so alien to him. He tries to hide his confusion from China.]

Very sharp, aru. You could seriously injure someone with it. Also in my country, both men and woman use fans, aru. Not only to keep themselves cool, but also to use as weapons. It's the same way in Japan too, aru. [He nods his head.] Yes, fighting. Again, yes, I know how, aru. Come to think of it, I'm still waiting for Prussia to come back so we can have that friendly match.

Well, I used to live outside when I had just been born, but I was so little that I can't remember, aru. When I was a child, people in the palace dressed me up in nice clothes, fed me the finest food, and gave me a seat by the emperor. But they didn't want me associating with the peasants, so they kept me in the palace. I was like a caged bird, aru.

I want to see someone use one. It has to be even better than a sword, damn it! [Amazing! Amazing! This was really amazing!] Who's Japan?

[A dual with Prussia? He'd have to see that~. He decides not to mention anything about that for the moment.]

Hm. So they treated you like royalty? One day I'm going to be treated like royalty too.

In some cases a fan is better than a sword. For starters, it's easy to carry, as well as conceal, aru. Japan is my little brother, or younger brother, I should say. He's not a child anymore, aru.

I believe so, aru. However, there were times when my favorite nursemaid Lien-Hua would help me sneak out and we'd see the town together. We had to blend in with the commoners, though, or else we'd be caught.

I'm sure you will, aru. You're still young, so you have plenty of time to build your country up.
