[Today is October 10 and it is drizzling in Johto. China can be seen walking around Goldenrod, holding a red umbrella over his head. His Glaceon, Meimei, happily jumps into puddles as she follows her master. China looks into the various shop windows until something in the music shop catches his eye.]

Oh! They actually have one, aru!

[Video]

Hold the camera nice and steady, Meimei.

[China can be seen standing behind an interesting-looking instrument. He tests the strings first, before playing this song. Pay attention at how he's using his fingers. When he's finished he looks up at the gear, smiling gently.]

Today is my birthday, aru. Also, I first arrived in Johto on October ninth last year, a day before my birthday. [He sighs, but keeps smiling.] I have noticed that there are quite a few people who also have their birthdays in October, so consider the song I just played as my gift to you all, aru.

It's been so long since I last played, though, aru. I feel as though I made a mistake somewhere... oh well.

No one seemed to have noticed, aru. [He smiles.]

[He will do his best to return the smile in kind, but he finds it rather hard to smile without some sort of tenseness to it. He just about manages though, before holding a small box to the screen, focusing on his words as he works them out.]

[His chinese... Isn't very good, his accent still heavy on the words, but the message just about gets across. He'll clear his throat before speaking, once more in the universal language of Johto.]

[He nods.] Xie xie.

I can come and find you, aru. I was out on a walk anyway.

I am at the music shop right now. Where are you?

In the TM part of department store, was just looking for things for Dipshit and for egg when hatches.

Can come down and meet you at entrance if you are wanting.

Alright. I will be right there, aru.

[With that, he shuts off the gear, scoops up Meimei, and opens his umbrella as he heads back out into the rain. The Department Store was easy to spot thanks to its tall structure, plus he had been to Goldenrod enough times to know where things were by now.]

[He makes his way down quickly enough, his pokémon for now in their pokéballs as he played with the box in his hand. It wasn't much, but he hoped the other man liked it at any rate.

He gives a brief wave as he sees the other man approach.]

You got here quicker than I was expecting.

The music shop isn't too far from the Department Store, aru.

[He sends a curious glance at the box in the other's hand while Meimei pawed at his white sweater.]

I see.

[He's fumbling a little with the box, before handing it over, the motion forcedly casual.]

Here, got you a gift.

[When the box is opened it's revealed that the gift is a belt buckle (http://img3.etsystatic.com/il_fullxfull.166041683.jpg). No belt, just the buckle, the soviet doing his best not to hold eye contact.]

Saw it and thought you might like it.

[Replace 'saw' with 'trawled Goldenrod for' and 'thought' with 'hope' and that statement just about rings true.]

[He takes it into his hands curiously and opens the box with care. There's the sound of a small intake of air soon after.]

Oh, it reminds me of the lotus flower, aru!

[He takes the buckle into his other hand and studies it for a moment before putting it back into the box, smiling and giving a small bow of his head to the other.]

Thank you, Yī wàn!

Is nothing.

[Wait, bad choice of words.]

Was nothing- getting gift was nothing.

[Worse choice of words.]

... You are welcome Yao.

[The was better. He runs a hand through his hair before speaking again.]

Do you... Have anything planned for the rest of the day? Is Yao doing anything special?

Nothing that I can think of, really.

[He feels Meimei rubbing against his legs. (He'd forgotten she was there.)]

Perhaps we could go somewhere...? [As much as he kindaisstartingto like his pokémon, he is missing some actual human companionship.]

Well, there is this one cafe I do like, aru.

[The Glaceon begins to paw at his legs. She didn't like the fact that she wasn't the center of her master's attention now. She voices her annoyance.]
