Aiyaa Four Thousand Years, Aru!

[The video turns on. Yao's Furret, Ling, is the one holding the gear as she records her master tying his long black hair into its usual ponytail. He's not dressed in his soldier's uniform, instead, he's wearing a white uniform; the same one that the Goldenrod City Restuarant employees wear. He stands before a large mirror as he fixes his hair. He knows that Ling is recording him, but he doesn't mind.]

Furret... [Ling's getting bored of just watching him tie up his hair, so she carries the gear in her mouth, crawls over to his open backpack, and begins to look through it. There were still many things packed inside since Yao and his brothers had only been in Goldenrod for a few days. She comes across what looks like an old, folded piece of paper. She takes it out and unfolds it to reveal an artist's depiction of Yao when he was still a small child. She leans closer so the camera can take it all in.]


Ling what are you... Aiyaa! [Once Yao finishes his ponytail he sees Ling and the drawing. He runs over to her and snatches it away.] Honestly, haven't I told you it's rude to go through other people's things, aru? [He looks at the drawing for a moment. Ah, yes, back then an artist from the court had been hired by the emperor to draw that. He folds it and places it in one of the dresser's drawers.]

[Ling scurries back onto his bed and holds up the gear in his direction. He takes it back, making the camera point up to the ceiling.] It's my first day, so I can't be late, aru. You better be a good girl while I'm gone. [It's obvious that he's nervous about his new job.]

Furret!

[Just before Yao cuts off the feed, he points the camera at himself.] Also... if anyone wants me to, I'll sew clothing for you, aru. I'll work with any kind of material from silk to wool, whatever you want. The price will depend on what it is, aru.

[The feed cuts off.]

[The screen turns on and all you see is China's palm. It seems that he is trying to put the pokegear up somewhere. Once he has the device safely secure in the knothole of a tree, he withdraws his hand and steps back so he isn't too close to the camera. Behind him is a large body of water. He bends down to pick up Li and when he's standing upright again, a Furret climbs up him and curls herself around his neck. He smiles at the camera.]

Nihao! Remember that Sentret who wouldn't listen to anything I said? Well, look at her now, aru. [The Furret nuzzles her face against China's cheek.] Ling evolved a few days ago and she's not scared of me anymore. She's a good girl now, aru. [Ling lets out a happy cry and continues to nuzzle her face against her master's.] Ah, so cute~

[He remembers that he's on camera and hides his embarrassment by clearing his throat.] B-But Ling is not the only one, aru. My Lien-Hua has also evolved. [His back now faces the camera as he looks towards the lake.] Lien-Hua! Come out, aru!

[If you look closely you can see a disturbance in the water. It's starts out small, but it soon rises out of the water and you hear a loud roar, which disturbs the pokegear and replaces the image of Yao with static. Once the static clears, you see this huge, blue, dragon-like creature with red eyes and its mouth agape.]



[China faces the camera again and he's smiling.] Some of you said she was just a stupid fish, but I've proved you wrong, aru! I knew she had an inner strength all along!

[Lien-Hua leans down so China can stroke her face. He coos to her in Manadarin before addressing the pokegear again.] Even though she's big now, she's still very affectionate, aru. She's not as scary as she looks, really. [He strokes her behind one of the fins on her face.] Ah~ Isn't she beautiful, aru?

[Li prods China's chest with one of his flippers, jealous of all the attention his master was giving to Lien-Hua. China stops stroking the Gyarados' face and looks down at his Seel. He chuckles and pets him behind the little horn on his head.]

Don't worry, Li, you'll have your chance to evolve someday, aru.

[The screen shows the green grass of the forest area in Cherrygrove City where Yao was currently walking. The pokegear is attached to his backpack and the screen is directed downwards, which is why only the grass can be seen now. Yao's pokemon, his military shirt, and his burn had all been taken care of the day before (with a little help from Nurse Joy, of course). His burn would be completely healed soon.

Yao becomes visible in the screen once he sets his backpack on the ground and takes out Li's pokeball.]

Okay, Li, time for some fresh air, aru. [The pokeball opens and Li plops down onto the grass. He lets out happy cries for being freed at last. Yao smiles down at him as he takes the Sentret's pokeball out from his backpack and opens it. The Sentret lands in front of Yao and China.]

You're so cute, aru~ All you need now is a name, aru. Hmm... what should I call you, aru? [As he's thinking, the Sentret's head turns in many directions, with a frightened expression on her face. She freezes when she spots Li, who merely tilts his head at her.]

Oh, I know, aru! I shall call you Ling, a-- SENTREEET! [Ling lets out a frightened cry.]

What's wrong, Ling, aru? [He approaches her with his arms outstretched towards her, but Ling slaps away one of his hands and scurries up a tree.] Ling, get down, aru!

[She stares down at Yao, distrust shinging in her eyes. Yao sees this and thinks back to the time when he caught her on Route 29. Perhaps he had went overboard with Li's attacks. He glances up at her before digging into his pants pocket.]

Come on, Ling, I have some tasty berries for you, aru~ [He holds out some Oran berries in her direction, but Ling turns her head away. Yao sighs.

Li flops over to the tree trunk and tries to reason with Ling that Yao was not a bad person. However, Ling grabs the nuts that are growing from the tree she's in and starts throwing them at Li.]

Hey, don't treat Li like that, aru! [Ling responds by throwing a nut at Yao, which hits him right in the forehead. Ow!

[He rubs his forehead before glaring at Ling.] I am your new master, whether you like it or not, aru! Now come down, aru! [Another nut hits him in the head.
Seeing his partner being treated in such a way made Li angry. The Seel looked up at Ling and sent a stream of angry cries at her.]

Seel! Seel! Seel!

Sentret! Sentret!

Seel!

SENTRET!!!

[Yao can only imagine what they're saying to each other as their voices become more angry. When he glances at the backpack, he sees the screen of his pokegear on. Embarassed by the thought that anyone watching this was probably laughing at him right now, he quickly walks away from his still-arguing pokemon and picks up the device. A faint blush can be seen on his cheeks as he looks into the screen.]

What should I do, aru? It looks like Ling doesn't trust me, or Li, at all, aru.
